Qué significa cada fecha
Fortinet marca tres hitos en la vida de cada equipo. Los tres son fechas públicas y fijas: no dependen de cuándo compraste el equipo, sino del modelo.
Fin de venta (EOO)
End of Order Date. Último día en que Fortinet acepta órdenes de compra de ese modelo. Después de esta fecha solo queda inventario de canal.
Límite de renovación (LSED)
Last Service Extension Date. Último día para contratar o extender FortiCare y FortiGuard. Suele caer 4 años después del EOO y es la fecha decisiva: pasada, ya no hay renovación posible.
Fin de soporte (EOS)
End of Support Date. Termina todo: parches de FortiOS, firmas de FortiGuard, soporte técnico y reemplazo por garantía (RMA). El equipo sigue encendido, pero desprotegido.
La fecha que importa es el LSED.Mientras la fecha de hoy sea anterior al límite de renovación, puedes extender el soporte de tu equipo actual. Ese es casi siempre el camino más económico. Una vez pasa el LSED, el reemplazo deja de ser opcional.

Qué hacer ahora
1. Identifica el modelo exacto
Corre get system status en la CLI de FortiOS o revisa la etiqueta inferior del equipo. El modelo comercial y el número de serie son lo único que necesitas.
2. Ubícalo en la tabla
Busca el modelo arriba y mira su estado. Si dice «Aún renovable», tienes margen; si dice «EOL, con soporte vigente», el reloj ya corre.
3. Renueva si todavía puedes
Si la fecha de renovación no ha pasado, extiende FortiCare y FortiGuard. Es la opción más económica y no implica ventana de mantenimiento.
4. Planea el reemplazo si no
Pedimos el modelo equivalente de generación actual, las licencias y la migración de configuración en una sola cotización. Cotizamos en USD y facturamos en Colombia.
Por qué no conviene quedarse en un equipo sin soporte
Un firewall sin soporte sigue pasando tráfico, y esa es exactamente la trampa: la falla no es visible hasta que ya ocurrió. Estos son los cuatro riesgos concretos.
Vulnerabilidades sin parche
Fortinet publica avisos de seguridad (PSIRT) de forma continua. Un equipo pasado el EOS no recibe la versión de FortiOS que corrige el fallo, y el aviso es público: el atacante también lo lee.
Firmas de FortiGuard congeladas
Antivirus, IPS, application control y web filtering dependen de actualizaciones diarias. Sin ellas el equipo inspecciona tráfico con un catálogo de amenazas viejo.
Sin RMA ni soporte técnico
Si la fuente de poder muere un viernes, no hay reemplazo por garantía ni caso de soporte. El tiempo de recuperación pasa de horas a semanas, y depende del mercado de segunda mano.
Hallazgos en auditoría y cumplimiento
Los marcos de cumplimiento y las pólizas de ciberseguro suelen exigir infraestructura con soporte vigente del fabricante. Un firewall en EOS aparece como hallazgo en cualquier auditoría seria.

¿Qué significa EOL en un producto Fortinet?
EOL (End of Life) es el punto en que Fortinet deja de vender un modelo y programa el fin de su soporte. El equipo sigue funcionando después del EOL, pero deja de recibir versiones nuevas de FortiOS, reemplazo por garantía (RMA) y, al llegar el End of Support, también las firmas de FortiGuard.
¿Cuál es la diferencia entre EOO, LSED y EOS?
El End of Order Date (EOO) es el último día en que Fortinet acepta órdenes de compra del modelo. El Last Service Extension Date (LSED) es el último día en que puedes contratar o extender soporte FortiCare, y normalmente cae cuatro años después del EOO. El End of Support Date (EOS) es el día en que termina todo el soporte: sin parches, sin RMA y sin actualizaciones de FortiGuard.
¿Mi FortiGate deja de funcionar el día del EOS?
No. El hardware sigue encendido y pasando tráfico. Lo que se detiene es la protección: al llegar el EOS el equipo ya no recibe firmas nuevas de FortiGuard (antivirus, IPS, web filtering), ni parches de FortiOS ante vulnerabilidades, ni reemplazo por garantía. En términos prácticos queda como un router sin defensa actualizada.
¿Puedo renovar el soporte de un equipo que ya está en EOL?
Sí, siempre que la fecha de hoy sea anterior al Last Service Extension Date del modelo. Pasado el LSED, Fortinet no acepta nuevos contratos ni extensiones para ese equipo y la única ruta es el reemplazo. Por eso el LSED es la fecha que más conviene vigilar.
¿Qué pasa con las licencias FortiGuard y FortiCare que ya pagué?
Las suscripciones vigentes se respetan hasta su vencimiento o hasta el End of Support Date del equipo, lo que ocurra primero. Una licencia no puede sobrevivir al EOS del hardware sobre el que corre.
¿Puedo migrar la configuración de mi FortiGate viejo al nuevo?
Sí. La configuración de FortiOS se exporta y se importa entre modelos, aunque los cambios de generación pueden requerir ajustes en nombres de interfaces, perfiles de seguridad y políticas. En DataCenter360.net acompañamos esa migración como parte del proyecto de reemplazo.
