El FortiGate 401E (FG-401E) es un firewall NGFW en formato rack 1U con throughput de firewall de 32 Gbps, IPS de 7.8 Gbps y threat protection de 5 Gbps (tráfico Enterprise Mix). Su rasgo distintivo dentro de la serie 400E es la combinación de 16 slots GE SFP —la densidad de fibra más alta de su clase— con 18 puertos GE RJ45 (16 de switch más MGMT y HA) y 2 discos SSD de 240 GB integrados para almacenar logs y reportes en el propio equipo. La aceleración corre por cuenta de los ASICs NP6 y CP9.
Los 16 slots GE SFP del 401E son lo que lo separa del resto: pocas plataformas rack 1U ofrecen esa cantidad de fibra en cobre y óptica simultáneamente, lo que lo vuelve natural para campus con múltiples edificios o para consolidar enlaces de fibra que llegan de distintos segmentos. A eso se suman 16 puertos GE RJ45 acelerados por NP6, más los puertos dedicados de MGMT y HA. Los 2 discos SSD de 240 GB permiten retener logs, generar reportes locales y habilitar caché de WAN Optimization sin depender de un FortiAnalyzer. El CP9 acelera la inspección SSL hasta 4.8 Gbps con 300 000 sesiones concurrentes, y la fuente admite una PSU redundante opcional hot-swap para entornos que no toleran una sola vía de alimentación.

Dentro de la serie 400E los tres modelos comparten rendimiento idéntico: 32 Gbps de firewall, 7.8 Gbps de IPS y 5 Gbps de threat protection. Lo que cambia es el almacenamiento y la alimentación. El 401E agrega los 2× 240 GB SSD que el 400E no tiene; el 401E-DC es el mismo 401E para racks con alimentación DC. Si buscas la generación siguiente, el 400F multiplica el firewall por 2.5 y suma puertos 10GE SFP+.
